Hello All!
As this is my first post, let me tell you a little bit about myself and why I'm opening a cloth diaper store.
First, my name is Kristin. I'm married to Nick, and we had our son, Matthias, this past January. I started my cloth diaper journey when I was about 5 months pregnant. I googled cloth diapers to see what was out there since I thought it was still the old prefold and cover way. Boy was I wrong! The first diaper I saw was bumgenius 3.0. I was hooked. It looked just as easy as disposables, and it would save us so much money! I started buying diapers whenever I had a little extra money in hopes to have enough when he was born. I had 12 bg and some flats and covers (which to this day I haven't used) but I couldn't stop. I soon added Softbums, Gro Baby, and most recently, rumparooz - which just might be my new favorite - the poop scoop (it's really called that) really keeps even the messiest blowouts in that nice little contour.
I decided to open a cloth diaper store one Sunday night while diaper shopping. I was sick of hoping I would get something that I liked without actually seeing it and feeling it first. I also wanted to let more people know how easy and cost effective cloth diapering is. I know there are some people that I have talked to that still think it is too much work, but disposables are work too - you have to take them out to the trash about every day otherwise your whole house can turn stinky fast. And did you know that even on the box of disposables is says you're suppossed to flush solids? What's the point of them then? I can't knock them too much, I still have to use disposables when my in-laws babysit my son, but my parents think it's totally cool!!
I'm hoping to be up and running in one of my old guest bedrooms in our basement - I know it will be small, but it's a start. I also will only be open by appointment since I will be working full time as well until everything picks up. I'm looking to offer a couple classes soon about how to cloth diaper, the different cloth diapers, how to store them, pros and cons, laundry, traveling etc. and hope to answer any questions you have.
Please feel free to ask any questions you have now, I will be happy to answer them!
Kristin
